About the Kohelet Fellowships Program

What is the Kohelet Fellowships Program?

The Kohelet Fellowships Program is a 2-year Jewish learning experience for parents of Jewish day school students.  Fellows study Jewish texts, either in courses or one-on-one, participate in community learning events, and explore the lessons with their families.  Fellows receive tuition breaks from their schools, funded by the Kohelet Foundation and its partners as a grant to each school.

The Kohelet Fellowships Program partners with 2 outstanding educational providers to power the fellowship:

Beginning in September of 2012, we have added a Preschool Pilot Program in some regions. Parents enrolled in the Preschool Pilot Program will participate in the program along with the day school parents. At the end of each successful year, instead of receiving a grant, the preschool pilot parents will bank their money. If and when the parents enroll the child in one of the area Jewish day schools, the school will receive their grant money, and it will be deducted from their tuition.

Kohelet Fellowships Program Mission

To promote a sustained interest in life long Torah learning, amongst all day school parents within a community, as a means to generate Jewish communal responsibility for day schools.

In support of this mission, the Kohelet Fellowships Program:

  • Educates parents that Torah learning is an exciting and essential part of Jewish family life
  • Partners with schools and educational institutions
  • Creates an opportunity for parents to model Torah learning for their children and learn Torah with their children
  • Forges local communities of learning
  • Eases the financial burden of commitment to day school
